Beatrix, the 5 year old little girl who I babysit for, has totally gotten me back into my little ponies in a way that makes me want to scream and pull my hair out. I watch her sit there engrossed by the same my little pony movie that's about friendship, adventure, songs, rainbows, stars, more rainbows, magic wands, and very bad songs week after week. When we don't watch the my little pony movie we read the books. I find it hard to believe that I too was once in love with the same my little pony cartoons myself when I was her age. Now I watch them in a state of utter confusion, disgust, and awe. I mean ponies that sleep in beds in weird pink villas in the middle of the rainbow forest and put on talent shows, it doesn't get much better than that, but it does give me an uneasy stomach at the same time.

I made this while volunteering at the Visionary Art Museum on Sunday. Not a lot of people came that day because it was so nice out, but it was also 90 degrees. Only Baltimore goes from 60 to 90 in a matter of days and its a little hard to take.

Can someone buy me a scanner for my birthday? A scanner would make my blog a whole lot better and I would post much more often. Overall the quality of my life would improve much more with my very own scanner.

Its amazing what I find when I go home. These are some of my prints from my intaglio class Junior year that I found when I went home for Easter. They're not in the greatest condition because I have somehow managed to give all my nice prints away, which was a good idea at the time. Now all I have left are proofs but I still have the plates and could always reprint them.

No More Studio

So I've graduated from MICA which means no more studio for me. I've recently moved into an one person apartment in Mt. Vernon so I'm working with the space the best that I can. I have too many paintings though and not enough wall space so people should start buying them.

Millbrook Horse Trials 2008

These are some photos I took at the 2008 Millbrook Horse Trials this summer.
The Millbrook Horse Trials is a 3 day event and these are images from cross country on day 2. While there I became more interested in the landscape an the sky then I did of the actual horses and riders.

My Senior Show

This is my work for my Senior Thesis Exhibition at MICA which was up from May 15th to the 20th in the Main Building. It took me almost 3 days to paint that wall with help from my friend Joe Sturm.

This is is my newest painting called Portrait of Horse and Rider. Its 52"x53" and is done with acrylic paint, pastel, and pencil on paper. Not the greatest picture of it but you get the idea. I am having a hard time photographing my work because of the of the acrylic paint on the paper gets so shiny and because the pencil work comes out so light. Hopefully one day I'll get the hang of it or become super rich and can pay someone to take pictures of my work for me.

My mom found this picture and sent it to me and I think its my favorite picture of all time. Its of my friends and I at our barn, Rivendell, at the jumper show. I think were showing off our jumping position to my mom but really it just looks like were showing off our butts. From left to right thats Grier on her pony Joe, me on my pony Tanya, my sister just standing there (we shared Tanya), Victoria on her pony Stormy, and Ashly on Pip.

These are images from my book that I printed and bound this fall (with help from John Beck!) The illustrations were done using a combination of digital and hand done techniques. It was my first attempt at book making, and its about horses, if you haven't already figured that out.
